The Waiting Game

I'm currently playing the waiting game. If you're a writer, you know what I'm talking about :) I'm trying to convince myself it's a good thing b/c in order to forget this 'game' I'm writing, writing, writing. Even surprised myself by knocking out about 10,000 words this week and it's only Thursday. That is all. *Sigh* Back to writing :)

Mission Accomplished

My sister found her wedding dress and it's gorgeous! Hanging up, I didn't like it, but once she put it on, omg, I was hoping she'd get it. It was one of the first dresses she tried on and she tried on a bunch after and felt like she was 'cheating' on her dress so she knew it was the one. She also settled on bridesmaid dresses (yay!) Since I'm the MOH, mine's a little different. Here are the pics. I can't find a pic of the other bridesmaid dresses but the colors are the same, the lace part is just smaller, it runs across the chest area only, and there's no sash on the others. In case you're wondering, I plan on walking around all night like that model w/ my hand on my hip and pouting *g*

Friday Goodness

Congrats to Kelly B. & Rhian C. for winning the February contest!

Just received my cover for Finding Hope (no release date yet) and I'm vera satisfied :) Plans for the weekend include hopefully finishing chapter two of my new manuscript and wedding dress shopping with my sister. I have a good feeling about this shopping trip so cross your fingers she finds the right dress. And really cross your fingers that she picks awesome bridesmaids' dresses. *g* She's been going back and forth on styles so hopefully a decision is made!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Starting a New Story

Well, I've written the first chapter of my new romantic suspense. I'm vera excited about this story. It's different than anything I've done before and involves more research than I realized, but I'm really excited about it and hope to turn it into a series. As always, I'm freaking out that I won't be able to write the amount of words I've planned. Is anyone else like that? It isn't until about page 150 that I feel a sense of being able to 'make it'. Obviously I'm not talking about my novellas, but for all my full lengths, I experience this sense of impending doom until I hit a certain point in the story. I think I'm afraid the words will just stop and I'll completely run out of ideas. So far it hasn't happened, but I have nightmares at the thought. Does anyone else go through that or am I a lone freak?

ETA: Don't forget about my contest. Ends tomorrow!

Valentine's Day Contest (Free books)

Since it's Valentine’s Day I wanted to do something special. I'm cleaning out the bookshelves (again) for my hubby and decided to turn this normally sad process into a contest. Why is that a good thing for you? It’s very simple. In honor of this holiday tell me who your favorite romantic couple is and why, and your name gets entered into the contest. Your favorite couples don't have to be from a book. They can be from a movie, tv show, whatever, but I am more partial to books. (Or, you can join my newsletter and automatically be entered into every contest from now on.)

Two winners will get to pick two books each from the following list of books. The first name drawn will get first choice. Winner's will be announced next Friday!

Tempting the Prince – Patricia Grasso (Autographed - Zebra)
The Italian – Elaine Coffman (Mira)
Wicked Woman – Denise Eagan (Zebra)
Bite Me if You Can – Lynsay Sands (Avon)
Make Me a Match – Diana Holquist (Warner)
The Supplicant – Lucinda Betts (Autographed – Aphrodisia line)
Traceless – Debra Webb (St. Martins ARC)
The Forbidden Enchantment – Nina Burns (Silhouette RS)
To School A Cowboy – Susan Shay (Wild Rose Press)
Alpha Exiled – Lorie O’Clare (Ellora’s Cave)
Blood Lines – Kit Tunstall (Ellora’s Cave)
Murder List – Julie Garwood (Ballantine)
Desperado – Diana Palmer (Mira)

As stated above, if you join my newsletter you’ll be automatically entered into any contest I have and starting today, I plan to have a contest every month. I’m embarrassed to say that half of these have never been read so many of them are basically new. A good lot of them have been gifts, etc. or I’ve gotten as extras at book signings and I’ve come to the realization I’m not going to be making a dent in this pile anytime soon. This list will also change every month b/c I'll be adding more books. I usually donate to the library, but I’d love giving these to people I know want them.

Feel free to spread the word and if you do post this somewhere else, let me know and I'll enter you twice :)

Lost Words

I write at home and work. At work I bring my flash drive and transfer everything when I get home. I'm crazy about backing up, etc. but yesterday I decided not to bother emailing myself with my newly added scene b/c it was only 1,000 words. Um, yeah, the stupid file was corrupted when I got home and I can't recover anything. It's not a lot, but it still blows, especially since it was an integral part of my h/h's first smexin scene and I struggled with it. Grrrrr! Currently banging my head on the desk! So please people, back up your work :)

In 'exercise' updates, I managed not to die today while running so that's a good thing.

Okay back to writing.....err, rewriting.

New Layout

I've been messing around with my blog for a little while and found a cool site with free blogger layouts: Simply Fabulous Blogger Templates. I think I might have lost a couple things when I switched layouts so if you notice anything missing let me know :)

That Time Again

It's synopsis time again. I always wait until the last possible second to work on these retched things, but this time, I've decided to do it before I've finished the next three or so rounds of edits. Hopefully by the time I'm ready to submit, the stupid thing will already be done. We'll see how that works out though ;)

I've started running again and my entire body is feeling it. Despite my raging desire to hang up my tennis shoes and quit, the man will not let me. Now that he's back home, he's all about getting in shape, blah blah blah. Blech. I actually walk an hour 5-6 days a week so I'm in decent shape, but I'd forgotten how much more intense running is. I don't care what anyone says, running is vera vera different. All my muscles feel tighter, especially my abdomen (and God knows it needs it) so if I manage to keep it up at least I'll be in shape for my sister's wedding. Once March hits I think it'll be easier. The running combined with the cold weather is just not working out so well for my lungs.

My weekend is packed so I don't know how much I'll be online. Lucienne Driver of The Knight Agency is speaking at my chapter meeting tomorrow and on Sunday I'm going to a bridal show with my sister. Originally we thought it was 12-4, but it's actually 9-4. Though, knowing my sister, she'll be an hour late getting to my house anyway so we probably won't get there until 10:30. Either way, I'm definitely wearing comfortable shoes.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Anti-Valentine's Day Contest

The blog site Breezing Through is having an 'Anti-Valentine's Day' contest. I like the concept that we don't need one day a year to celebrate romance.

Check it out, put it on your blog and you have a chance to win 3 amazing romance books! Thanks Tracy & Sarai for the heads up :)

Finished!

I'm finished with my current manuscript! It still needs to go through a couple rounds of edits, but *sigh* it's done. Over the weekend I forced myself to just write and ignore technology (as much as I could) and I knocked out close to 17 thousand words. I keep my word count up every day, but I haven't written that much in such a short time in quite a while. There isn't much that compares to the feeling of finishing another story. Apart from the obvious *g*, it's like finding that expensive dress marked down 90 percent.

In other writing news, I just turned in first round edits to one of my editors for Finding Hope and I hope to start editing above mentioned manuscript tomorrow and perhaps tackle the synopsis. ;) Other than that, I have nothing clever or witty to discuss. In a moment I'll be closing down my computer and resting my tired fingers. Thanks for the book recommendations (see post below). If you have more, keep them coming!
